Magic fall to 0-3 on the season when they score less than the Hawks

March 30, 2011

Big ol’ Magic fail tonight in Atlanta for Dwight Howard and crew as the Hawks pulled out an 85-82 win.  No excuses for the Magic as they just flat out didn’t shoot the ball well and got out-muscled inside by……… Jason. Collins.

Shooting stats for the Magic: 32-77 (41.6%) from the field, 7-23 (30.4%) from deep and 11-21 (52.4%) from the free throw line.

While the Hawks played pretty solid defense, it was no excuse for the performance.  The Hawks won 3 of 4 this season from the Magic and they clearly don’t fear Orlando heading into their inevitable playoff matchup.

If you think the Magic are going to steamroll Atlanta in the first round, you are very much mistaken.  And that isn’t so much a compliment to the Hawks as it is a diss towards the Magic.

Next up for the Magic is the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night at home. Will the Magic be able to handle the fearsome Charlotte interior tandem of Boris Diaw and Kwame Brown?? Honestly, at this point, I have no idea.

At least I won’t have conflicts between the Magic and the Rays for long…
